5 reasons why The Electric Daisy Carnival is good for Las Vegas
- People watching hasn’t been this much fun since The Dead were in town.Â
Say what you will about the fans who come from all over the world to partake in the event, but there is no denying that watching some of them is more fun than watching “Moulin Rouge” on boomers. - The fans fit right in with the locals.
They can incorporate getting wasted into their daily routine just as well as any resident of Las Vegas. This town is full of people who are on one hour of sleep, grinding through the after-effects of a chemical buffet, and on the clock. It’s a way of life for many of the people who are happy to serve you in Las Vegas, but I think the EDC fans gave the locals a run for their money in that department, and even intimidated one of our especially hardcore citizens into a Facebook post that challenges anyone to be more wasted than Las Vegas. Yay, team. - The police make enough drug busts to satisfy everyone who acted like our town was being invaded.
The cops were out in full force this weekend, and one fan I chatted with told me the Las Vegas Speedway, where the event was held, was like one big drug sting. The local news must have really done a number on the locals, because all of my neighbors were all up in arms, and now very relieved that the “Freaks” and “Weirdos” are gone. - Great Bargains on Glow Sticks.
The fans of EDC will trade their glow sticks for every day items like a cigarette, your souvenir drink cup (if it’s the kind with flashing lights,) or the rest of your beer. - It justifies our steep J-walking fines.
I’ve talked before how I once saw a man get taken straight to jail for J-walking Downtown, and I saw countless people J-walking LV Blvd. last weekend. Our cops don’t fool around when it comes to that, because it kills too many people every year and I know you would rather pay hundreds of dollars than end up like this guy.
