If you haven’t read other food truck reviews I’ve written, then you probably don’t know that Fukuburger gourmet food truck is pretty much King of the Las Vegas streets, in my opinion. I have mad respect for those guys. They were the first gourmet food truck in Las Vegas, as far as I know. Definitely the first to get any real notice, and all the others followed their tracks, which has resulted in a thriving Las Vegas food truck scene. If you are a fan of the food truck scene, and enjoy what the food trucks have brought to the Las Vegas dining culture, thank Fukuburger mobile food truck.
Anywhere they park, it’s a party. They crank cool mixes from the stereo, set out a folding picnic table, flip a bunch of buckets over for seats, and throw down the tastiest burgers. Top ten in the entire valley, easy. They got the umami thing going on, and that’s what makes a Fukuburger so savory and mouth-watering. A little addictive, too. I wanted one for breakfast this morning. I could still taste it. Not because I didn’t brush my teeth before bed, that’s gross. The flavor kinda stayed in my taste buds memory.
The “Kinoko Burger” (#4) is what I’ve ordered on my previous visits to the gourmet food truck, it has shiitake mushrooms, pickled ginger, teriyaki, and wasabi mayo, and it’s off da chain. It’s unique, and maxed out with flavor. To mix it up a little, I ordered the “Tamago Burger” (#2) this time. A fuku-patty seasoned with furiyake (Japanese condiment,) and topped with teriyaki, wasabi mayo, fried onion strings and a fried egg. The lovely Jasmine, who was taking orders, recommended I try the Tamago, citing it as their most popular burger. Garlic fries and homemade strawberry lemonade were ordered to accompany my fried egg burger. After the shortest amount of time I have ever waited for something from a food truck, I had my butt planted on an inverted bright orange bucket, and I was tearing into a awesome burger, totally forgetting to take pictures of the food for my readers. Sorry, I do that sometimes. Give me a break, I was distracted by Jasmine. The girl has charisma, what do you want from me?
The Tamago is a wisely crafted burger, the flavors come together in a way that surprises and pleases. Plus, it has wonderful texture from the onion and egg. I had to thank Jasmine for the recommendation. Actually, I had to think of a reason to talk to Jasmine again, and thanking her for pointing to a picture of a hamburger seemed like a good enough excuse.
Jasmine, as it turns out, is awesome, and putting her out there to take orders and keep an eye on the customers is a smart move for Fukuburger, She happens to be a natural at it, too. It’s a good food truck move to have someone doing that in general, but it’s a brilliant move to put somebody like Jasmine out there. For crying out loud, look at her. she lit the whole parking lot up, and she’s as sweet as she looks, believe me.
The party atmosphere didn’t die down even as it approached 3 am and people were pulling up as I was leaving. Las Vegas loves the Fukuburger food truck, and I’m certain you will too. Their schedule can be seen here, and they tweet it as well, @fukuburger. Tonight (7/7) they will be at 4240 W. Spring Mountain Road, across from Zizzy, in Chinatown. I hope you get a chance to try them. What is your favorite food truck?
